Zenith was formed in the beginning of 1989 by Anome 68000 a few weeks after the death of Ackerlight. Early Zenith was almost identical to the Swiss section of Ackerlight :) One early leader was Black Arrow (91); Samir took over world leadership RAW5. It's uncertain from WHO, though. Their second swiss board 'DAMNED CITADEL' was opened late 91. Inzane's norwegian board 'SUDDEN IMPACT' was busted in the big norwegian board bust of 1992. 'DAMNED CITADEL' originally had Neptun as a sysop, and later the sysop was called 'Hip'. I don't know if Neptun changed handle or left the board to someone else. 1992 - Finnish Blink/Electron joined with some others to form a finnish division, but he left later in the year. Tonec joined Deadline. French musician Bluesilence joined Devils. Italians Filippetto (code music, ex Vega, 12/92) and Case (music sysop 'THE NETWORK', both 03/93) both left to join The Silents. This probably meant the end of Filippetto's diskmag 'Freedom Crack', which he brought with him from Vega. Italian swapper Virus (ex Grace, new early 93) joined Arise late 93. However, rumours also says he joined Surprise! Productions. Cortez left early 93. Swiss coder Stef (ex Grace, 12/92) joined The Silents early 93. Rasterblaster (ex Grace), Leon and Todd1 (all new late92) were kicked early 93. American sysop Soultaker ('BEYOND DEATH') joined early 93 from Skid Row, but had to close his board after two weeks because of personal problems! Norwegian Morty joined Legend. Pegasus (ex Grace) joined Ministry. Towel changed his handle to Colonel and joined Deadline. Finnish swapper Zon (ex Altair) joined Spectral 08/92. Rash/Optimal joined, but soon left for Crystal. In Crystal he served as sysop of 'DARK TOWER' BBS. The Finnish and Swedish divisions were kicked. The only remaining non-swiss member is now Hitler in Finland. Swiss sysops Imperator ('EMPIRE', late91) and Tomcat ('TOTAL RECALL', late91) were both kicked. Swiss swapper Prot Killer stopped all activity late 91. Just For Your Ears (1991, ECS Musicdisk). code: n/a, gfx: n/a, music: Funschis, Maniac. Cooperation with Brain Wave. Swaptro (1992?, ECS Intro). code: Stef, gfx: Fighter, music: Funschis. Zentro 4 (1992, 27.12, ECS File). code: Stef, Belzebuth, Samir, gfx: Fox/someothergroup :), Flash Fox, music: Filippetto. Released at The Party 92. Freedom Crack #11 (1993, .03, ECS Multifile Diskmag). INT - code: Tibo, gfx: Fox, music: "Smaugroove" by Case. MAG - code: Samir, Teo/independent, Filippetto (additional), gfx: Magic/independent, Blacky/Independent, Fox (loadpic), music: "Freedom" by Funschis, "Medley" by Case, "30November" Filippetto, editor: Filippetto. review: This issue of FC is audio-visually very good, with top-notch but minimalist input in both code, graphics and music departments. Where it fails, though, is on the editorial side of things. It looks great, but there just isn't a lot of interesting stuff to read, I'm afraid. The code has been heavily improved before the release of this issue, they inform us, and we can't but agree. The last issue I saw of FC was #8 (in Vega), and this one's certainly a lot better than that. It's stable, for one thing :) [glenn] GLE tested A500 /000-7 /½mb chip, ½mb fast/2.04. Zenon is an entirely finnish demo group. 1993 - Finnish musician Deadbeat joined Bronx. 2000 - Chronic first changed his name to Frank Black, then again to Khaos in august. Shortly after, he released his first intro. Nona (1996, .08, Intro). 10th in the Assembly 96 intro competition. X-Mas Goo-Goo II (1996, .12, ECS Musicfile). code: Mare, gfx: Tohe, music: Buzzer. review: A chippack that requires 3mb of memory and recommends a 030-50? I thought they were kidding, but apparently they weren't. Anyway, some of the chippies are OK, so I advise them to loose the coder and painter and get Buzzer some better people to work with. 030 for a chipper? Jeez... [glenn] GLE tested A1200/030-50/2mb chip, 4mb fast/3.0. Broken Promises (1997, 07.06, AGA 8MB Multifile). code: Mare, gfx: Tohe, music: Buzzer. Winner of the Abduction 97 demo competition! review: Zenon, with all due respect, I'm sure this is cutting edge 3D and everything, but how about something a little more exciting? Something with a little more tempo, something with a little originality? You see, BP fails to excite me. I'm sitting there watching your demo, and I'm not feeling the adrenaling rush I got watching Artwork's "Phi" just 10 minutes ago. You know? That genuine demo enthusiasm kind of feeling; saying to yourself 'damn, this is GOOD.' I can see Mare's competence as a coder, but please - that bumpmap routine was just plain ugly! I'm not condemning you here, just trying to convey my feelings. Keep making demos, Zenon, you're on the right track...you're just not quite there yet. Broken Promises is a RISKY name to choose for your demo! As anyone who knows a little demo mythology will tell you, "Broken Promises" was to be the Sanity demo to end all demos, but in the end proved to be nothing more than an airship: a rumour filled with nothing. For a while though (and this was at the hight of Chaos' popularity) everyone was waiting for "Broken Promises" - the demo to end all demos. This sort of reminds me of the "Enigma 2" fake by Anal Intruders at The Gathering 94 :) [glenn] GLE tested A1200/030-50/2mb chip, 16mb fast/3.0. Zero Defects (http://zerodefects.babylonet.com) ----------------------------------------------- ITA> Cap. Zoc (gfx, late90), Doctor Sam (trade sysop 'EXTREMA', late90- early96), Irax (Christian, swap), Marco (gfx, late90), Reflex (code swap, late90), Paranoid (code, late90), Terminator (code, late90), Xenio (code, late90). ENG> Ye Olde Wizard (Stephen John Pain, music, ex Phaze 101). Boards; BRAINCELLS (ita, late90), BROTHERHOOD (ita, late90). Zero Defects was an Italian group, and was the best group in Italy 1990-91. They also had divisions in at least England. In time, the group died, as many members went off to make games. Maltese coder Paranoid (ex Phaze 101) left the scene, and Pseudonym also left. Italian coder Darkman joined Ram Jam. Graphician The Punisher (late90) left the scene, only to return some time later as Dr.Kaya of Nerve Axis. Is It Possible To... (1990 late, ECS Demo). Zeus ---- SWI> Dr.O (ex The Perfects), Israel (ex The Perfects), Rotter (ex The Perfects), Sledge (ex The Perfects). Zeus were a swiss demo group. 1991 - Zendo joined Equinox mid 91. The Ace and Starwars was kicked, and Risk joined Addonic late 91. Zite (http://members.home.nl/corvandijk/) ----------------------------------------- N-L> Death Angel (Marc Nijeboer, swap). Zite are (likely) a dutch demo group. Thanks to whoever it was that sent the link to their homepage ;) Commercial Breakdown (1992/93?, ECS Intro). code: Vektor, gfx: Cardiac, Xenobit, music: MLB. Blue Powder Pack Intro (1993, early,ECS Intro). code: The Eye, gfx: n/a, music: n/a. Zodiac ------ When Zodiac died, its members joined Majic 12 and Vixen. Zombie Boys (-1990). -------------------- TUR> Rattlehead (swap, late90). Zombie Boys died when the group changed their name to Bronx 12/90 or 01/91. At least Turrbo was carried over to the new group. Norwegians Intec, Zapotek and Funky Guru joined Gate. ZoMo ---- ???> LDA (pol? code, 11/96). noname (1996, 10.11, 4k Intro). code: LDA, gfx: none, music: none. Released for the Gravity 96 4k intro competition. review: Just a spinning 'ZOMO' logo in afterburned linevector. [glenn] GLE tested A1200/030-50/2mb chip, 16mb fast/3.0. Zone 7 ------ The Norwegian division is dead. Voodoo joined Byte Busters mid 91. Norwegian coder Black Panther joined Flash Productions. Zylon (1990-) ------------- GER> Animal (sysop 'TRICK OR TREAT', 09/91), Boogieman (sysop 'MIGHT & MAGIC', 09/91), Chin (stopswap write, 12/90), GGT (gfx, new late90- 12/90), Mainframe (09/91), Milkracer (code train, ex Decade, new 01/92), Terranova (09/91), Tron (sysop 'MUSCLE BEACH', 09/91), Vitex (sysop 'THE FOREST', new 09/91). ICE> Dr.No (swap, 10/90). ???> Catweazle (ex Poisen, new mid91), Der Stürmer (modem, new mid91), Emax (ex Poisen, new mid91), Ozzy (modem, new mid91), The Avatar (music swap, 12/90), Toxic (ex Poisen, new mid91), Vindex (modem, ex Awesome, new mid91). Zylon was one of Alpha Flight's subgroups, formed in february 1990, before the entire group decided to liberate itself from AFL, and exist in their own right. They never made much of themselves on their own, though. They were probably German based. Avatar did music for the Sanity demo "Dee Groove" [12/90]. They were still a subgroup at the time. American board 'BELLY OF THE BEAST' was busted 09/91! Some members joined Legend, but they're NOT dead (mid 91). Vector Tunnel (ECS File). Zymosis (ZMO) ------------- FIN> Blank (09/95), Walkduck (09/95), Wc (sysop 'JUJU' WHQ, 09/95), Yelm (09/95). Wc Goes To Wc (1995, 12.08, Demo). 9th in the Assembly 95 demo competition. |
