The year was 1986. The very first signs of what we would later get to know as 'the scene' had surfaced two years earlier, on the commodore 64. That scene had now begun a slow maturing process, and in addition to an ever- growing amount of cracking groups, also some of the very first stand-alone intros and demos were getting released. Cracks themselves were also evolving, and for the first time you could read the immortal words "PRESS C TO CHEAT" in crackintros from Mr.Z/Triad - and the trainer was born. The Amiga scene was in its infancy, with possibly 5-10 groups active worldwide, mostly doing cracks. There were no (at least known to us) copy parties yet, the first ones started appearing only next year, in 1987. Two very important computers was released to the public from Commodore this year; The Amiga 1000 and the c64's 'successor', the Commodore 128. While the 128 never became the expected success, the Amiga took the world by storm; it was the most powerful home computer anyone had ever seen! This was also the year that the very first version of what would become one of the amiga's strongest software packages was released; Deluxe Paint. The Final Cartridge II was released for the c64. |
