Legend are a European demo and cracking group. They also release the diskmag "Shock". In addition, Jazzcat is editor of the independent Australian scene mag "Domination". 1988 - Legend were present at the PCW Show in London in september, where PWP and Goldfish even released a crack. Wave and Flaoman joined from Orion in december. 1990 - Arrogance 'and others' (presumably at least Pyle) joined from Success in july. Argon left the group to rebuild Success around august. In august, german cracker Pyle (ex Success) left for Crazy. However, the group was heavily reinforced when highprofile cracker Antitrack joined with Big Ben from the deceased Cosmos Design! This also happened in august. Arrogance (Thorsten) was kicked around september. 1991 - WOW's "Internal #3" [01/91] said there was rumours that Narc had been kicked. Brainkiller was busted by British Telecom for phreaking in january, and was asked to pay a large fine, but will not stop trading. Belgian swapper Glasnost joined from Transcom, also in january, and soon changed his handle to Thunderstruck. Danish trio Doc, Fletch and Excell joined from Ikari in january, so it was certainly an eventful month for the group! :) They were in importing partnership with NEI in december. 1992 - Rob joined from the newly-dead Hotline in january. The Basilisk, sysop of 'GEE SPOT', left the group around february, and will run the board independently from now on. Released cracks already fixed by NEI with a common intro in june. 1993 - Mirage joined Focus early in the year. Germans Hok and A-Man joined from Arcade, Queen joined from Paradize, Darklord joined from Illusion, Lexi (crack sysop) joined from Device (or Fairlight?), while Delta was kicked and Bionomix (supply, 11/92-) quit in may. Westbam got upset about something or other around june, and subsequently kicked A-Man, Hok, Darklord and Lexi! Lexi returned to Fairlight, Darklord is undecided about his further steps - he might leave the scene, or possibly join Red Sector Inc... A-Man (Steven Diemer, music) and Hok's further careers are unknown at this time. Rebel (crack) joined in august after getting kicked out of Illusion. Danish cracking legends Doc and Fletch decided to finally leave the c64 scene in october, to seek greener pastures on the pc. 1994 - September news told of crackers Powerplant and Rebel attending university in the usa, and not being able to work much for the group, and that despite rumours to the contrary, supplier Atmos is still a Legend member. They lost 'THE SHAOLIN TEMPLE' (which joined as a whq in november 1992) this month. Supplier Ziggy joined WOW. Legend (new, 1997-) ------------------- Legend returned to the scene in 1997, and put up the first ever internet-bbs for the c64, their WHQ 'SECOND TO NONE', using custom-coded software (QCBBS) by Uncled/Legend. They promised releases, but by christmas 97 nothing had yet appeared. Lepsi Developments (LD) ----------------------- POL> Frank (Artur Frankowski, swap, 95), Katon (Lukasz Gokbiewski, also in Arise, 11/02), Rap (Rafal Bratowski, 95), Sebaloz (gfx edit, 04/98). Lepsi De is a mainly Polish demo group. 1998 - After almost finishing "Standard" in time for Mekka Symposium 98, Sebaloz in the end decided to not spend all his time at this party linking the demo, but wait a little and release it two weeks later at Rush Hours. Level 11 (-1991) ---------------- Level 11 was a swedish demo group. 1990 - Swedish graphician Wilson left for Triad around june. 1991 - Level 11 died early 1991, when the entire group (Sodapop, etc.) joined Flash Inc. Level 64 (L64) -------------- SPA> Almighty God (Domingo Alvarez, also in F4CG and Dekadence, 11/02). Level 99 Industries (TLI) ------------------------- Level 99 Industries was a german demo/cracker group, founded by Black Sabbath and Copyfox. Among their members were Stringfellow, Dr.Cool and 7th. Thanks to NiM for information! Light ----- SWE> Bappalander (Ove Oldberg, code music, 93), Flamingo (code, aka FLG, 11/89-12/94), Goblin (Mattias af Jocknick, mainorg gfx, 11/89-12/94), HCL (code gfx, ex Booze Design, new 05/93), Hero (code crack, ex Triad, new 03/91), Ice Cube (code crack, 11/89-91), Injun Inc. (Jörgen Johansson, crack, ex Triad, new 08/90- 91), Jedi (11/89), Rash (code crack, 11/89- 91), Shade (code crack, late90-91), Vodka (gfx, ex Booze Design, new 05/93), Waco (code, 11/89-90). ???> Page (music), Scooby (swe? gfx, 12/94), Yabba (swe? code, 93-12/94). Light was a Swedish demo and cracking group, most known for their "Brutal" series of demos. As far as we know, they never had members outside of Sweden. Dr.Cool was an early member (possibly one of the cofounders?), and it was he who recruited Waco and Flamingo to the group, both of which he had earlier been in another group with. Thanks to NiM for information! 1989 - In early november, the group cohosted a party in Balsta, Sweden with Triad, and competed in the competition with their demo "Brutal" [11/89], coded by Flamingo and Waco. They suffered the loss of their cracker Tycoon to the same Triad, the following month of december, apparently leaving the group crackerless. 1990 - In august, their long lost swedish cracker Tycoon returned from his stay in Triad, and brought Injun Inc back with him. 1991 - Danes Sphinx, Glasnost and The Guardian (12/90) left to form a new group called Camelot early this year. In march, swedish code and cracker Hero joined the group from Triad. Just two months later, the the group was joined by another ex-Triad member, sysop Spirou (FUTURE ZONE)! Also in may, swedish cracker Tycoon decided to leave the group once again, this time for Censor Design. 1992 - Swedes Zagon (code) and Status left. After being independent for a while, they both joined Vision, probably early 92. 1993 - Swedish swapper Walker left due to internal problems, and joined his friend Spirou in Deicide for a couple of days, before finally accepting an offer to join from Active in may. HCL and Vodka joined from Booze Design at the TCC 93 party at the end of may. News in Fairlight's "Reformation #3" [06/93] that Yabba had left for Paradize on the amiga must surely be wrong, as we have records of him being a member as late as december 94. Swedish sysop Spirou (Joel Brynielsson, sysop 'FUTURE ZONE', ex Triad, new 05/91-) left the group around julu, to stay independent and concentrate on making games in the future. Swedish swapper Fresh Prince left for Epic in september. Music Collection V2.0 (1989, 16.01, Demo). Brutal (1989, 04.11, Demo). code: Flamingo, Waco, gfx: Goblin (logo), Waco (sprites), ???/Upfront (sprites), ???/The Ruling Company (chars), music: Danko/???, Gaunt/ Fairlight, Zardax/Origo Dreamline (uncredited). Released for the demo competition at the Triad and Light Party. review: Light competed with an average demo here, though with some good bits and the promise of more to come. The very first in something that would later prove to be a whole series of demos, this one has the 3 parts by Flamingo and 2 by Waco. Like most groups at the time, they did not have their own musician, and used all ripped tunes - two of which are not identified in the credits. Overall, a fair demo with some good parts (sprite multiplexer, logo stretcher) and a few average ones ;) The demo comes in 3 files, totalling 298 blocks, and contains 5 demo parts. The music in the last part (which also features uncredit graphics ripped from some Thalamus game and then altered) is uncredited, but is actually "Tune 33" (hvsc name) by Zardax/Origo Dreamline, a really great cover rendition of a-ha's "Stay on These Roads", from the album of the same name. [glenn] Brutal II (1990, 28.12, Demo). code: Flamingo, gfx: n/a, music: ???/Skyline Technics (1), Klaus 'Link/Vibrants' Grøngård (2), Groovy Bits (Danko? 3), Danko (5). Winner of the Dexion Party 90 demo competition! information: Part 4 musician is unknown. Not That Brutal (1991, Demo). code: Shade, Rash, Flamingo, gfx: Goblin, music: Skyline Technics, Danko. review: This 3-part, small demo-thingy is an inbetween-release in the wait for Brutal III. Nothing exsceptionally interesting here, just normal demoparts with no innovation. The last one is a sinus-plot part, where you control all aspects with your joystick. Booooring... The demo is a single file. [glenn] Brutal III (Demo). code: n/a, gfx: n/a, music: ???/Skyline Technics (1), Bluez (3), Antti Hannula/Artline Design (4), Moon/Flash Inc. (5), Zagor/Skyline Technics (7). Brutality (1991, 28.12, Demo). code: n/a, gfx: n/a, music: Bappalander (1/3/4/5), Page/Side-B (6), Danko/Censor (7). information: Danko's tune in part 7 is FABULOUS!! Winner of The Party 91 demo competition! Brutal Comeback (1994, 28.12, Demo). code: Yabba, Flamingo, gfx: Scooby, Goblin, music: Danko, Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway. 2nd in The Party 4 demo competition. Light Circle, The (TLC) ----------------------- GER> Mr.Zeropage (crack, 86). TLC was an early cracking group, and legendary in their field. Lithium (LTM) ------------- AUS> Primus (John Sargeant, swap, mid94). ???> Druid (05/93), Fade (editor, 05/93), Strobe (05/93). 1993 - Witty, Strobe and Druid all left the group in may to reform their old group Oxygen. Unfortunately this only lasted a few days, after which Strobe and Druid rejoined Lithium, and Witty moved on to WOW. Fade will take over editing duties on Witty's mag "Epic". Logic (1989-) ------------- SWE> DNA (Leif Malmi, swap, 09-10/90). ???> Redstar (swe? gfx, 05/89-12/90). Logic was a swedish group, likely formed early 1989. Lords of Darkness (LOD) ----------------------- POL> Morris (Pawel Pawlak, code, 01/93). Morris coded the packer "DarkPacker v2.0" [01/93]. Lords of Sonics (LOS) --------------------- ???> Chris Hulsbeck (music), Markus Schneider (music), Oliver Windel (music, 89). Lords of Sonics were (probably) another music group. That name is a total ripoff of the Maniacs of Noise name, BTW! But what sets them apart, after all, is a single member: Chris Hulsbeck!! Lore of Arts (LOA) ------------------ Lost Souls, The (TLS) --------------------- ???> Riddler (crack, 91). Lotus (1989-) ------------- Lotus was a cracking group, born in december of 1989, and featuring members like Axiom (ex Beastie Boys) and Yeti Factories. Still in december, the group recruited Rygar and TJ Lazer from X-Ray, and went into cooperation with Crazy! 1990 - DJ joined from Crazy around february. Lower Level ----------- 1992 - German graphician Donald joined from The Imperium Arts in july or august. 1993 - Diabolo left for Padua in may. Lurid + Tricycle (L+T) ---------------------- Stubbscroll is aka Scroll/Megastyle. Lynx ---- 1990 - Swedish swapper Onani joined Contrast around may. |
