xmp is a free module player for UNIX distributed under the terms of the GNU GPL. xmp runs on Linux 2.0 and 2.2 (using ALSA and OSS), S/Linux, Solaris 2.5 and HP-UX 9, and has been also reported to work in OpenBSD, FreeBSD, Linux/Alpha and Digital UNIX (an experimental driver for IRIX is included but it has not been tested for 16 bit output). On PC class machines with GUS or AWE cards xmp takes advantage of the OSS sequencer to play modules with virtually no system load. Using software mixing, xmp plays at sampling rates up to 48 kHz in mono or stereo, 8 or 16 bits, signed or unsigned, little or big endian samples with 32 bit linear interpolation. Experimental support for the Enlightened Sound Daemon is included. The current version of xmp supports many PC and Amiga module formats (including packed, Powerpacked and SQSHed modules).

My personal opinion about this first version of DeliPlayer:
Sure this is the BEST player available and finally I can hear again some excellents musics that I have in formats not playable before on Win but for the moment is not my fav IT/MOD/XM player because lacks of "Surround" and "Bass" effects that others players have. I hear music always with headphones and these effects are really cool. Sure the purists of the sound could be contrary to this opinion. Anyway, this is the first version and most important this is a my personal opinion. Enjoy this excellent player!

  • Updated: TheMPegEncGUI v2.02 by Daniel "Deniil 715!" Westerberg
+ If TheMPegEncGUI always crashed for you it should not do so anymore! It was a stack problem. I doubled the stack for the sub-process and it worked so I trippled it in this final release just for safety!
+ Now you can set ID3-tags individually for every file, or you can set one tag for a group of files and use the filename as ID3-Title!
+ The progress time report has been improved alot (again) and now the time is calculated immediately when you add files to the list wether an encoding process is running or not! The time factor (encode/play) is also saved when you save prefs so that time estimates will be more accurate the next time you encode!
+ You can save the list with ID3-tags in textformat and maybe edit the file by hand and then reload it!
    + The ID3-genres is now sorted :)
+ Now ID3-tags can be set no matter what encoder you use! If you use an encoder that doesn't support ID3-tagging TheMPegEncGUI will do the tagging itself!
+ A little bug fixing here and there..

+ Fixed trouble when clicking fast on the "delete"-sample button
  • New: SampleZ v0.12alpha by Rainer "No.3" Müller. - (Info)
The NEW and IMPROVED successor of SampleE.
    Rainer's words:
"After over 4 years of SampleE, the program got bigger and bigger and the code got more and more messy. So a major code cleanup is neccessary. Because that and the reason that the current SampleE hasn't much in common with the first Aminet version I decided to stop SampleE and start a new project called SampleZ.
SampleZ was meant to base very heavy on SampleEs code. But after some smaller code cleanups/changes I came upon several things which to change in an existing and working program is nearly impossible. So I decided to stop SampleZ at this point (V0.12alpha) and COMPLETELY REWRITE 50-75% of the code !!!! Only the sample-editing parts of the code will be taken from SampleE.
As this rewriting of the code will take much time and SampleZ has already some new working features, I decided to share SampleZ V0.12alpha with you.
But keep your eyes open for the Final-Version of SampleZ !"

NEWS and CHANGES compared to SampleE V4.08:
+ Better implementation of the progressbar -> needs less cpu
+ New and better moving bar during playback + display of the time
+ -> AHI: bar + time update now 8 times per second (instead of 4)
+ -> Paula: bar + time update now 4 times per second (instead of 2)
    + Read (WAVE-) MPEG-Audio files using mpega.library V2+
    + Read uncompressed AIFC files
+ Opens its window on Workbench-, Own- and new: Default-Public-Screen
+ Moved several, often needed functions into a "support"-library
    + -> Main-program and io-librarys are much smaller now

  • Can someone be more stupid?
A new version of Deli14BitGenie by Chris Hodges was ready to be released but has been canceled. Why? Simple, someone really stupid "cracked" the program. What? A FreeWare (Postcardware) program cracked? Yes. If You use this genie, You know that the only thing that appear is a very small requester after a month of usage reminding You that the author only wants a postcard for his hard work, nothing more, but someone decided that this is a really boring requester and remove it...
From now, future versions (if any) will be really crippled and will require a keyfile and I don't blame Chris for doing this.

Now I want to apologize with Chris if there are really some stupids guys which don't understand that is thanks to people like him that Amiga can still survive and have some very excellent stuff like this program that others machines can only dream...

Anyway, a big thanks to Chris if decide to continue to work on his program and to all others programmers which works hard but meet the same bad situation...

Excuse me, but this is really the most stupid and useless crack that I have ever seen, considering that the program "was" FREE...

    14 February 2000

Hi Friends, You can finally see some new pages! :)
As You can see, the "new" site is now composed of three sections: Amiga (of course! :); PC, a new section dedicated to audio software for PC and the last section named SoundScapes that basically replace the previous "Aminet Cybertrax" section.
For now only the main pages are online includig the Musical News page and the "new" Links page which now includes all the links of the related sections. I have anyway a lot of links to add and recheck the old...
All the news will be posted in this area of this page while the olders can be viewed in the News page.
The Amiga section (and PC) will be structurally the same as before apart that the programs of each category will be now on a single page (no more singles pages for each program). This can be good or bad but sure reduce a bit the work and the upload (and download?) process. What do You think? Also, as You can see, now the categories can be selected from this page (no more sub-menu page). Don't access them now because are not online, I'm working on it. My first step are the Amiga pages (of course! :).
Even the SoundScapes section is structurally the same as before but with no more the rating system because I will put only the BEST musics of the BEST artists that I find around with files (really many) available locally (well, space permitted. XOOM declares "unlimited space". I will test it...). You can only see the main page for now.

Well, what do You think of this "New Look"? Do You like it?
(any sort of comments are, as always, well accepted... :)
