The nominations submitted by the public are in, and now the voters can begin evaluating some hand picked SIDs. The nominations are conveniently available inside a master playlist found at the BOV web site. Voters will have until January 20, 2002 to submit their votes. Every SID fan is eligible to participate in the voting. (The purpose of BOV is to enlighten SID fans on which SIDS are the best of the /VARIOUS directory of the well known High Voltage SID Collection.) BOV Web Site: http://www.dhp.com/~shark/BOV/ ---------------------------------- Back in Time Live 3 - 21 June 2002 ---------------------------------- Back in Time Live is back, we're pleased to announce. Information from Chris Abbott follows: Back in Time Live 3, Gossips, Soho, 21st June 2002. Yes, we're back. Back in Time Live 3 will be the usual intense C64 fun: loud music, game competitions, good chat, a smattering of C64 celebs and three of more CD launches from "remix64", "Back in Time Live", "Iridium", "FTC", "Instant Remedy" and "Sidologie"... I don't know if there will be a Back in Time Live 4 or not, but do you want to risk it? Come on, you've got six months notice. Book the time off now, make the plans, get your tickets, book your accommodation... don't worry if you've got no one to come with, there's plenty of people you'll know there, and this is LONDON! You don't even have to go to sleep afterwards, because the joint's cooking even at 4am in the morning! Other attractions include Press Play on Tape (hopefully), and C64 karaoke. Challenge the unbeaten Perhaps-a-Doobie to a club singing duel! And you know we'll be putting the usual detail into the event to make sure it's as exciting for us as it is for you... just ask someone who went last time if they enjoyed it, and realise that if you don't go to this one, you may never have another chance. Seize the day! Remember: Back in Time live events don't celebrate history, they CREATE it and pass into folklore, like the Jeff Minter coat incident at BIT Live Birmingham or the Bouff/Richard Joseph magnetism at BIT Live London :) For all the info you need, including directions to the club, where to stay etc please consult the official site: http://www.backintimelive.com/ ----------- GoatTracker ----------- A question I am often asked is if there's a PC based utility to utilise SID sounds and to make SID music with. Previously there wasn't anything I knew of, until the rather excellent GoatTracker was released by Lasse Öörni (Cadaver). Goat Tracker uses the well known reSID emulation engine in conjunction with a friendly and simple to use interface so that within minutes you can be mastering the SID chip and producing your tunes. And for HardSID card owners, you can also use the real C64 SID chip on your HardSID to ensure your sound is as close to the real thing as possible. The beauty also is that you can save your tunes (when finished) to native C64 .prg format, or SID format too. For more information, please consult the following webpage: http://www.student.oulu.fi/~loorni/ ---------------------- New SID Search Website ---------------------- Linus Akesson revealed recently details of a new SID search website he devised. It searches unlike any other in that you can type in the musical notes of the first few bars of a song, and the search will try and match the notes with the notes of a SID file. Although still experimental at this early stage, it does work well with a few I tried out, so why not give it a go? http://www.df.lth.se/~lft/sidtheme On Linus' site you can also download a piece of music designed for _seven_ SID chips to play: http://www.df.lth.se/~lft/music/multisid --------------------------------- Martin Galway on the BBC (part 2) --------------------------------- You may remember some time ago I informed you in an announcement about Martin Galway's BBC music. Well, we've since found out from the programmer of the BBC games Galaforce and Galaforce 2 that Martin made the music to both of those games as well. Which is nice. For those of you who wish to explore Martin's BBC musical output, Stairway to Hell has four of his tunes in MP3 format for you to download and enjoy, and they are quite twee. http://www.stairwaytohell.com/ Enjoy the new update, and wherever you are in the SID-loving world, may you have a Merry Christmas, Glćdelig Jul, God Jul, Fröhliche Weihnachten, Vrolijk Kerstfeest, Joyeux Noël, Kellemes Karácsonyi Ünnepeket, Gleđileg Jól, Hyvää Joulua, Buon Natale, Wesolych Swiat, Feliz Navidad, and an enjoyable time listening to SID music in whatever language you may speak. Kind regards Warren Pilkington. -- This message has been sent to you via the HVSC-Update List. To unsubscribe at any time simply send a mail to hvscupdate-unsubscribe@scenelists.com .
