Hello everyone, HVSC Update 27 is available for you to download. This update is mainly a maintenance update, which sees quite a lot of SID tunes fixed for compliance with a real C64 and Sidplay2. There's also many new SIDs we didn't have room for in the last update, including some popular SID Hunt requests. We managed to partly blitz some of the credits in the GAMES dir and get some consistency in the MozIcArt directory too. After this update, the collection should contain 16,320 SID files. This update features (all approximates): 505 new SIDs 107 fixed/better rips 1 repeats/bad rips eliminated 77 SID credit fixes Main Artists Featured In This Update: DRAX Chris Grigg Ass It Beat Machine Arman Behdad Blues Muz' (Glenn Gallefoss) Blues Muz' (Kjell Nordbř) Comer Double Jonas Firebee Goto80 Harmony Productions Imaic Jan Krolzig Moon Sascha Nagie PCH Inge Pedersen PFK Puterman Rabbi rambones Sage Peter Sandén László Simon SounDemoN Trident Tron Walt Yankee and many more... ---------------------------------------- So what else is new in this update then? ---------------------------------------- We managed to find out who made the music to Rick Dangerous I and II, along with cleaning up unecessary Inc and Ltd in the copyright lines of the credits. We also added several new composers this time around, so do check out their work in this update. You'll be pleasantly surprised by their work, we hope. I'd also like to thank Simon White (Sidplay2 author) for his support and technical knowledge which helped the HVSC Crew immensely during Update beta-testing to ensure this update was as Sidplay2-compliant as possible. Many thanks :) --------------------------- What's to come next update? --------------------------- Hopefully next update we shall see some of the following: More SID Hunt game requests, including Agent USA, Bozo's Night Out, Flak, Hercules, Logic and maybe even more. More on the SID fixing to ensure C64 and Sidplay2 compliance. Music competition tunes from LCP2001, along with some new composers' works being added. ------------------------------------------- Back In Time Live featured in Edge magazine ------------------------------------------- The Birmingham Back in Time Live event was also attended by journalists from respected video game magazine Edge, and their report features in their latest issue (#100, no less). There's good interviews with Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway and David Whittaker, along with some very nice words from C64 legend himself Jeff Minter as well. There's also some photos from the event to go with the report. Hopefully your local friendly newsagent will stock the magazine so you can grab your hands on a copy and see how accurate their report was (if you were there) or what you missed (if you were not!). ------------------- Help us to help you ------------------- I mentioned this last update but mention it again to remind you. As you may have noticed, there are numerous SIDs both in the /DEMOS/UNKNOWN/ and the /GAMES/ series of directory where the musician is unknown. Obviously, this is not an ideal scenario and we would very much like to have the correct credits where possible. And this is where you come in. Please take a listen to the SIDs in /DEMOS/UNKNOWN/, and if you recognise the tune from any demo, please consult the demo and let us know if the musician is credited. Also, please dig out any original games you have for SIDs in the /GAMES/ directories where the author is unknown, and consult the instructions of those. A lot of the time, the credits were in the manuals and not in the game, and so only by owning an original would the true composer be known. If you can help with either of the above, please do send an email to Warren Pilkington stating what credits you have found, along with the source of the information. Please consult hv_sids.txt in the DOCUMENTS directory of HVSC as to how to send in these fixes. Many thanks in advance if you can help. Enjoy the new update, and have a wonderful summer! Kind regards Warren Pilkington. -- This message has been sent to you via the HVSC-Update List. To unsubscribe at any time simply send a mail to hvscupdate-unsubscribe@scenelists.com .
