Both events (Birmingham on 16th May 2001, London 22nd June 2001) were different from each other, but both worked wonderfully. Many C64 composers, programmers and scene heroes were there amongst the guests and had a wonderful time. Birmingham doubled as the launch party for the Back in Time 3 CD, and London featured C64 high score competitions to whet the gaming appetite. Back in Time Live events featured dance mixes of C64 tunes at very loud volume, which worked wonderfully. The C64 remixers out there did us proud with quality mixes, and the composers who came were very friendly and pleasant to talk to, and put up with a plethora of people speaking to them all night (so many thanks to them). There was also lots of retro 80s music for people to dance to as well as the C64 mixes, and on top of that Birmingham had a light show with VLM deployed by no less than C64 programmer legend Jeff Minter. Amongst the C64 legends who attended the events were: Rob Hubbard (Birmingham) Ben Daglish (Birmingham) Martin Galway (Birmingham) Mark Cooksey (Birmingham) Anthony Crowther (Birmingham) Fred Gray (Birmingham) Marcel Donné (Birmingham) Jeff Minter (both) Allister Brimble (Birmingham) Nick Pelling (Orlando) (both) Richard Joseph (both) Jon Hare (London) Jason Page (London) You definitely missed out if you couldn't make it. But there may yet be another event. For all the lowdown on both events, including picture galleries, camcorder footage, MP3 reports of the event and much more point the browser to http://www.backintimelive.com/ -------------------------- Back In Time 3 CD released -------------------------- The Back in Time 3 CD was released at Back in Time Birmingham, and officially launched 21st May 2001. Reviews of the CD have been very favourable, and Remix 64 no less gave the CD 9.5 out of 10, stating it was a very impressive piece of work. Do check it out and order the CD for yourself here: http://www.backintime3.com/ ---------------------- Remix 64 site launched ---------------------- To support the C64 remix community, the site Remix 64 was born. It features reviews of C64 remix CDs, a lot of interviews with both C64 remixers, scene people and the composers themselves (so do check out those interviews), messageboards, hot topics for discussions as well as links to the C64 remix scene in general. Point your browser to http://remix64.phatsites.de/ ----------------------------------------- Yodeking and Ul-Tomten's SID Quiz Results ----------------------------------------- You may remember last update there was a SID Quiz set for fun. Well, after the closing date, the winner was announced, and congratulations to Gaetano Chiummo who got all fifteen tunes correctly. he truly deserves respect and admiration from us all for his outstanding knowledge of C-64 music! ------------------- Help us to help you ------------------- As you may have noticed, there are numerous SIDs both in the /DEMOS/UNKNOWN/ and the /GAMES/ series of directory where the musician is unknown. Obviously, this is not an ideal scenario and we would very much like to have the correct credits where possible. And this is where you come in. Please take a listen to the SIDs in /DEMOS/UNKNOWN/, and if you recognise the tune from any demo, please consult the demo and let us know if the musician is credited. Also, please dig out any original games you have for SIDs in the /GAMES/ directories where the author is unknown, and consult the instructions of those. A lot of the time, the credits were in the manuals and not in the game, and so only by owning an original would the true composer be known. If you can help with either of the above, please do send an email to Warren Pilkington stating what credits you have found, along with the source of the information. Please consult hv_sids.txt in the DOCUMENTS directory of HVSC as to how to send in these fixes. Many thanks in advance if you can help. ---------------------------------- KDVS 6581 SID show one-off special ---------------------------------- June 13 saw a one-off two hour special of the KDVS show broadcast by Justin Beck (Hard Hat Mack). It featured an exclusive listen to some of tunes in the HVSC Update just released, a report of Back in Time Live, Commodore scene news from Brendan Reid of Commodore Wire, and an exclusive first listen of an unusual remix of BMX Kidz by the group "More Than Ample Hamble". At the moment the show is not archived, but we will be working with Justin to have an MP3 of the show archived somewhere. There will be a link from the HVSC website if this happens. Enjoy the new update, and many thanks for continuing to enjoy the collection and supporting us. Kind regards Warren Pilkington. -- This message has been sent to you via the HVSC-Update List.
